چکیده
An extremely compact and versatile near-infrared two-color femtosecond pump-probe spectroscopy apparatus based on an amplified Erfiber laser system is presented and applied to the characterization of the relaxation dynamics of single-wall carbon nanotubes with fundamental absorption in the 2 μm spectral region. By implementing a fast-scan technique, dynamics as long as 3 ps are acquired in 5 s with a relative sensitivity of 10 and a temporal resolution below 100 fs at 2 μm. ©2008 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: (300.6340) Spectroscopy; (120.6200) Instrumentation, measurement, and metrology; (320.7150) Ultrafast optics; (140.4050) Laser and laser optics. We demonstrate the single-step generation of mid-infrared femtosecond laser pulses in a AgGaSe2 optical parametric oscillator that is synchronously pumped by a 100 MHz repetition rate sub-90 fs erbium fiber laser. The tuning range of the idler beam in principle covers ∼3.5 to 17 μm, only dependent on the choice of cavity and mirror design. As an example, we experimentally demonstrate...
متن کاملToward higher-order passive harmonic mode-locking of a soliton fiber laser.
We report >13 MHz/mW pump power efficiency in increasing the repetition rate of passive harmonic mode-locking by engineering the soliton pulse energy in Er fiber lasers incorporating carbon nanotube saturable absorber. Stable pulses with a ∼5 GHz repetition rate and 40 dB of super-mode suppression are demonstrated with only ∼400 mW pump power in a single-clad fiber laser.
متن کاملFabrication, characterization and mode locking application of single-walled carbon nanotube/polymer composite saturable absorbers
We present the fabrication of a high optical quality single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) composite film. The composites demonstrate strong saturable absorption at ∼1.5 μm, the spectral range for optical communications. By measuring the nonlinear transmission of a sub-picosecond pump pulse through the film, we were able to deduce a saturation fluence of ∼13.9 μJ/cm and...
